Come view or select masterpiece art work by Southern artists and enjoy food, fun and atmosphere at Ridgeland Rendezvous, a reception hosted at Southern Breeze Gallery, Jackson Street Gallery and the VIEW GALLERY on Thursday, August 19 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
SOUTHERN BREEZE GALLERY invites you to view works by this month’s features artist, Catron Williams. She is self taught with more than twenty years experience. Her abstract paintings beg to be named “cityscape”, “landscape”, “waterscape” but they also evoke something beyond the substantial world that we hear, touch, see, taste and smell. Catron uses color, line and composition to explore emotional and conceptual components of an inner world. Each painting is a declaration from that inner world. Her works express what words cannot articulate. Catron’s hope is that her paintings prompt the viewer to sense and explore their own emotional and conceptual territories, expecially the unchartered realms.
The paintings on display for this event will be featured from her repertoier that fall on a continuum running from approximations of realism to total abstraction. The collection demonstrates her facility to work with a flexible palette, to explore a breadth of thematic and compositional foci and to elicit a range of emotional atmospherics.
It’s a ZOO in here!!! At JACKSON STREET GALLERY the heat has made us crazy!! The animals are on the loose – from a full-sized wood sculpted alligator by Alexander Brown to “Justa Swinging Monkeys” by Dot-t Dehmer, to Lion, Tigers & Bears, OH MY! by Cathy Hegman to more tamed aoutdoor metal sculptures by Harrison Caldwell.
